Air France has opened a new lounge at London Heathrow, adding a more refined pre-flight option for eligible passengers travelling from Terminal 4.
The lounge covers more than 750 square metres and offers nearly 150 seats, with runway views and interiors designed around the airline’s familiar palette of blue, white and red. The space has been developed by Air France teams in collaboration with MARKS Brandimage and includes references to the airline’s heritage, including its winged seahorse emblem.
Several details caught our attention.
There is a dedicated dining area serving French-inspired dishes throughout the day, alongside a staffed bar offering champagne, French wines and spirits. For passengers using Heathrow as the start of a longer journey via Paris-Charles de Gaulle, that should make the airport experience feel less like a necessary step on the way to the hub and more like part of the overall journey.
The lounge also includes a Clarins treatment area, with complimentary treatments available to guests on weekdays and dedicated spaces for La Première and Flying Blue Ultimate customers. La Première passengers have access to a private area with in-seat dining and privileged views over the runways.
Airport lounges are not always memorable as too often they feel functional rather than enjoyable. What Air France appears to be doing here is extending more of its French hospitality proposition onto the ground, with food, design, service and wellness all treated as part of the experience.
For Heathrow, where premium passengers already have plenty of lounge options, this is a useful addition. For Air France, it gives the London to Paris-Charles de Gaulle route a more consistent offering.
The new Air France lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 4 is now open daily.
