The Shepherd Mayfair is preparing to open soon, bringing a new 82-room boutique hotel to one of London’s most famous postcodes.
The hotel had previously been expected to open on 1 September, but the opening was delayed to allow additional time to ensure the property is fully ready to welcome its first guests. An exact October opening date is still to be confirmed, however, as of today, we note that reservations are currently being accepted from 2 October.
Located on Stanhope Row, The Shepherd will offer 82 individually configured rooms and suites across six floors, with a design rooted in the history and character of Shepherd Market.
Food and drink will be an important part of the hotel, with three distinct spaces designed to attract both guests and those visiting the neighbourhood.

Fayre, the 62-cover signature restaurant, will focus on seasonal British produce alongside familiar European classics. The recently revealed interiors combine dark timber panelling, banquette seating and berry-toned finishes, with artwork referencing the historic May Fair that once took place in the surrounding area.
The Lounge will offer a more relaxed all-day setting, moving from morning coffee through to evening drinks. Teddy’s will complete the collection with a late-night cocktail bar on the lower ground floor.
The location is a large part of what makes The Shepherd interesting. Nearby Shepherd Market has a character distinct from the grander hotels surrounding Park Lane and Grosvenor Square, with its smaller streets, restaurants, pubs and independent businesses giving this corner of Mayfair a more neighbourhood-led feel.
At 82 rooms, The Shepherd also offers something more intimate than many of Mayfair’s recent luxury hotel arrivals. Its emphasis on restaurants, bars and spaces intended to be used by the surrounding neighbourhood could help it feel connected to Shepherd Market rather than simply located next to it.
The Shepherd Mayfair is now expected to open in October, with the final date to be announced shortly. Palates & Miles will be following the opening and plans to visit once the hotel is fully up and running.
